NBC TODAY Puppies with a purpose

We are very excited to share with you that NBC has partnered with both the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs for the next iteration of their TODAY Puppy With a Purpose program.  However, this year – surprise surprise – there were five dogs introduced.  We’ll not only have our main guide dog pup featured on NBC’s TODAY morning show, but we’ll also be supporting several NBC stations around the country with their own “puppy with a purpose.”

For the next 16 months, TODAY and the various NBC show anchors and staff will be part of the organization’s “puppy raising team” to help each the puppy become either a guide or service dog.  On NBC's TODAY and Atlanta's NBC 11Alive, the puppies will follow a guide dog training curriculum, while the puppies at KNBC Los Angeles, WBAL TV Baltimore, and NBC 10 Boston will follow a service dog path.

With the guidance of experienced dog handlers in each city, each NBC team will help raise and train the puppies during their designated morning shows.  At the end of 16 months, the puppies will continue their formal guide or service dog training with a certified instructor from the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs and will be matched with a person who is visually impaired, or with a disabled veteran.

Support the Class of 2019

The Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs are committed to providing our special dogs free of charge to people across North America with disabilities.  Beginning February 26, 2018 and running through June 2019, our goal is to raise $500,000 to change more lives through the partnership of a guide or service dog.  However, we can’t train and place these dogs on our own  – we need YOUR help!
You can provide life-changing guide and service dogs to those who need them by donating today.
