Meet Stanley, Sponsored by the Flyers Alumni
Team Foster, in partnership with America's VetDogs, is proud to introduce Stanley, a service dog in training whose journey is powered by a remarkable contribution made by the Flyers Alumni. Together, we’re working to provide life-changing support for Veterans living with disabilities and Stanley is already making a big impact.
The Flyers Alumni Association, long committed to giving back to the community, has generously sponsored Stanley as part of their ongoing efforts to support Veterans and their families. Their sponsorship ensures Stanley receives the extensive, specialized training needed to one day become a service dog for a Veteran at no cost to the recipient.
The Flyers Alumni’s support for Stanley is just one part of their broader commitment to those who served. In addition to working with Team Foster, the Flyers Alumni proudly back the Flyers Warriors, an ice hockey team made up of disabled U.S. military Veterans. The Flyers Warriors offer Veterans a chance to build camaraderie, find healing through sport, and stay active in a supportive community.
Where Stanley Comes From: America's VetDogs
Stanley is being trained through America’s VetDogs, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing specially trained service dogs to Veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities. Since its founding in 2003, America’s VetDogs has helped countless individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Stanley is currently learning basic obedience, socialization skills, and the foundational training needed to one day become a skilled service dog. His journey will take nearly two years, but with the support of the Flyers Alumni and the expert training provided by America’s VetDogs, he’s well on his way to becoming an invaluable companion for a veteran in need.
Connecting the Mission: Team Foster
Leading this incredible collaboration is Team Foster, whose mission is to raise fund to help provide accredited, life-saving service dogs to injured and disabled Veterans. Team Foster bridges the gap between service dog providers and Veterans, raising awareness, funding, and support to ensure that no veteran is left behind.
